Working Poor Tax Credit The North Phoenix Lions Club Foundation is a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to providing eye exams and eyeglasses to economically disadvantaged children. 36 area schools are served by our club. The North Phoenix Lions Club Foundation also assists families in need for the holidays with food, clothing and toys. Arizona Law provides a credit for cash contributions made to charities that provide help to the working poor. The maximum amount of this credit is $400 for a married couple filing a joint return and $200 for a single individual. To be eligible for this credit, you must have itemized deductions and deducted charitable contributions on a prior year's Arizona return (1996) or later at least once. This is a dollar for dollar credit and a chance to make a difference in the lives of disadvantaged children by directing your tax dollars to this program. For more information and see the "Donations" section of this web site.
Santa Project Each year the club selects economically challenged families who need assistance with food, clothing and gifts for the holidays. Club members participate in two shopping events, wrap the gifts, and deliver them. December of 2009, 10 families received assistance.
